Poetry Night - Jarret Richard Devlin Middleton
‘An Dantomine Eerly,’ written by and read by Jarret Richard Devlin Middleton. This intensely original novel is a skillful re-conception of the old Irish poetic form the aěsling, literally meaning “dream vision” or “vision-poem.” "This book is a surreal exploration of death and the secrets that lie at the end of the universe, … whether or not you pick up on all of the vast meaning, it’s like reading a painting; you might not know precisely what the creator meant to say, but it’s still beautiful to look at, and you get the sense that there’s something profound just beyond your grasp." - Bibliophibia Please join us for a taste of wonderfully inventive, cutting edge composition.

‘Meet the Author’ - Diane Hammond
Diane Hammond, author of ‘Seeing Stars’ will read from her book, answer questions, and sign or personalize copies for our customers.
Seeing Stars, the story of four child and teen actors seeking fame in Hollywood, was inspired by the two years Diane’s own family spent in Hollywood supporting their teenage daughter as she pursued a professional acting career. Seeing Stars addresses many of the real-world issues and obsessions shared by most young actors and the families that love and support them: ambition, talent, drive, guts, hard work, justice, injustice, and more than a small measure of luck. It also explores the roles that adults inevitably play in the lives of child actors—the parents of other child actors, as well as photographers, managers, talent agents, coaches, teachers, casting directors, movie directors and producers, and more.

‘Meet the Artist’ - Bob Newhart
Meet abstract painter Bob Newhart of Bend who ‘paints music.’ His abstract work is created while listening to improvisational jazz recordings. Bob says “Music… is probably the highest authority about how to live life. Painting is a way to get close to that – the silent brush in search of sound. If I could approximate – in art – the colors, notes, rhythms, tones and textures that Miles Davis, Theolonius Monk, John Coltrane… (and) Brad Mehldau put into sound then I would be very pleased.’ Wine, sparkling water and appetizers will be provided following Bob’s presentation.
